Landlords

Q:
"What are the benefits of working with René House?"
A:

We offer several key advantages for landlords:

  • Guaranteed rent (even during void periods)
  • We manage and cover general maintenance
  • Regular property inspections
  • Full tenant management
  • No letting agent fees
  • No tenant referencing fees
  • No management fees
  • No rent collection fees
  • No tenancy renewal fees
  • Minimal property management required from you
Q:
"How long are the leasing agreements?"
A:

We offer long-term agreements with a minimum period of 3 years. This provides stability for our residents, while ensuring consistent rental income for property owners.

Q:
"Will my property be in safe hands?"
A:

Yes – we take property management seriously. We conduct regular property inspections, manage all tenant relationships, and handle general maintenance. As one of our landlords said, "I totally forgot I owned the property as I've had no issues!"

We've also received dozens of comments and bits of positive feedback from external organisations, residents and landlords. For example, following a community engagement event at one of our properties, an officer from Nottinghamshire Police stated "I was very much impressed at the way the property was presented as well as the way the two males living there were caring for the property."

Q:
"Are there any property requirements?"
A:

While we're interested in a range of property types, before we take anything on they will already need to meet (or have a plan in place to meet) the Decent Homes Standard set out by the Government, as well as any specific Selective/Additional/HMO Licensing criteria enforced by the relevant Local Authority.

If your property does not meet these standards, we'd be happy to arrange a property valuation to discuss specific requirements for your property.

Q:
"How do I get started with René House?"
A:

Getting set up is quick and easy - it all starts with getting in touch. Contact us with information around where your property is, and how is set up. If is something that could work for us, we will arrange to come and view the property and from there we can discuss how we can work together to benefit both you and our residents.

Organisations

Q:
"How can our business or organisation support René House?"
A:

There are several ways to support our work.

Direct Donations:

You can make a one-off or regular donation to help fund our services. Did you know - we aren't actually funded by Local Authorities to provide the support we do, only the housing. Our resident's would not achieve the outcomes they do without the amazing work of our support team!

Corporate Sponsorship:

Become a corporate partner through sponsorship or cause-related marketing, or get involved through staff volunteering and fundraising events. We also welcome professional expertise and in-kind support that could benefit our residents and services. Whatever level of involvement you're considering, we'd love to hear from you. Contact us today!

Q:
"What happens with our donations?"
A:

When you donate to René House, you're supporting our mission to ensure everyone has a safe, stable and clean place to call home. As a Community Interest Company, we reinvest all our resources into improving our services and supporting our residents. Your contribution directly helps us maintain and expand our ability to provide both housing and vital support services to those who need them most.

Q:
"What kind of partnerships do you already have?"
A:

As a Community Interest Company (CIC), community is literally part of our DNA. We work closely with local authorities, job centres, charities, a range of food banks across Nottinghamshire, and community groups to achieve great outcomes for our residents. We've built strong relationships with organisations like Broxtowe Youth Homelessness, and various private sector supporters. We're also proud members of networks like Social Enterprise UK, and Homeless Link, connecting us to the wider support community.

Q:
"How do we start working with René House?"
A:

Homelessness is an issue that requires a team effort to make real, lasting change. Whether you're a support worker, landlord, housing navigator, mental health worker, investor, community project worker or local authority - we want to hear from you. And if you're none of the above, get in touch anyway! The first step is simply starting a conversation about how we might work together to tackle homelessness in our community.

Q:
"I want to support René House without making a direct donation"
A:

Great no problem! You can support us via our Easy Fundraising.

Residents

Q:
"Can I refer myself for accommodation?"
A:

No we're sorry, we require a referral form to be completed by a support worker or someone from an organisation you're being supported by. This helps us better understand your needs and situation.

Q:
"Who will I live with?"
A:

René House residents are people who need support moving forward with their lives. To be allocated a bed space with us, everyone goes through our process of referral and assessment which gives us a chance to get to know the people we house as much as possible. We also use this process to match people together as best as we can in the properties. As long as you are open to maintaining a shared level of respect between your housemates, you'll do great!

Q:
"What are the houses like?"
A:

If you would like to be considered for accommodation then we will need to receive a completed referral form completed by a support worker or someone from an organisation you are being supported by. We will arrange to meet you to make sure that we are the right fit for each other and if so, accommodation will be offered as soon as possible.

Q:
"How long can I stay?"
A:

We don't put fixed time limits on your stay - everyone's journey is different. While our goal is to support you towards independent living, we'll work at a pace that's right for you and ensure you have the skills and confidence you need before moving on. Alongside support workers and local authorities, we'll regularly review your progress together with you, to help you work towards your next steps.
