From years of sofa-surfing and battling addiction to finding stability at René House, Foxy's life has massively transformed. Now employed and saving for his own place, he reflects on his experience.
Meet Foxy, an adventurous spirit who loves walking, swimming, sightseeing, and tending to his garden.
As he approaches his 40th birthday, his life looks very different from just a few years ago.
Before finding René House, Foxy's life was characterised by constant movement and uncertainty. Years of homelessness and sofa-surfing had taken their toll, while struggles with addiction and mental health made it nearly impossible to maintain steady employment or find stable housing.
"I've come a long way since being here," Foxy reflects. "It's my first steady place I've actually had on my own. Most of my life I've been here, there, and everywhere. But now I'm in a steady place, life's getting better, and I'm working."
That stability has been transformative.
Today, Foxy works part-time and is actively saving for his own place. More than just having a roof over his head, he's building a life filled with purpose and possibility. His days now include the simple pleasures many take for granted - tending to his garden, exploring new places, and planning for the future.
The impact of stable housing, coupled with dedicated support and resources, has been life-changing for Foxy.
His story perfectly illustrates why we're so passionate about creating quality housing for vulnerable individuals. We believe everyone deserves not just a safe place to call home, but the opportunity to thrive.
We're incredibly grateful to Foxy for sharing his journey with such openness and honesty. His story reminds us that with the right support and opportunity, transformation is possible.
