On October 8th, Rhanajai and Jodie from René House conquered the Yorkshire Three Peaks - tackling 26 miles, 3 mountains, and 1,564m of elevation gain in 10 hours 23 minutes.
Last week, our incredible team members, Rhanajai and Jodie, completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge - conquering 26 miles, three mountains, and 1,564 metres of elevation gain in just over 10 hours.
For two people who'd never attempted anything on this scale before, it was an absolutely incredible personal achievement, and they managed to raise a whopping £660 for our resident's social support programs in the process!
The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge involved climbing Pen-y-ghent (694m), Whernside (736m), and Ingleborough (723m) in a continuous circular route, all within 12 hours. It's a genuine test of endurance and determination.
Setting off from Horton-in-Ribblesdale around 7am, Rhanajai and Jodie faced a day of relentless climbing, endless moorland walks, and pushing through the exhaustion!
📍 Pen-y-ghent tested them early with steep stone steps.
📍 Whernside, Yorkshire's highest peak, brought cold misty conditions and the toughest ascent of the day.
📍 Ingleborough and its steepest sections (30% gradients) was a real test for their tired legs!
Between the peaks, they walked miles of moorland, passed the iconic Ribblehead Viaduct, and pushed through their tiredness. As daylight started to fade around 5pm, they still had 7 miles to descend back to the start.
But at 5:32pm, after 10 hours and 23 minutes, they both crossed the finish line!
Their final stats:
This challenge was about funding social support for our residents transitioning out of homelessness. The money Rhanajai and Jodie raised will create:
Every day, Rhanajai and Jodie see how these activities transform lives, and they understand how having something to look forward to benefits our residents in their journey to stability.
That's why they put themselves through this challenge.
We honestly couldn't be prouder of Rhanajai and Jodie. They moved mountains - literally - and absolutely smashed the challenge!
So far, they've raised an incredible £660 for our residents' social support programs. We're incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported them along this journey - they've read every word of encouragement, and every donation helps us continue providing the life-changing support our residents need.
The fundraiser is still open for anyone who'd like to contribute.

From everyone at René House - you're absolute legends, Rhanajai and Jodie! Now rest those legs! 🖤⛰️
Social isolation after homelessness is one of the most overlooked barriers to long-term recovery. While society focuses heavily on the immediate need for accommodation, the deeper challenge of rebuilding social skills and confidence often goes under the radar.
