As we step into a new year, we’ve taken some time to look back on the progress, partnerships, and impact that shaped our 2025 here at René House.

Throughout the year, our focus remained clear: providing safe, supported accommodation for people experiencing homelessness across Nottingham and surrounding areas, alongside meaningful support that helps those people rebuild stability and independence.
Here’s a look back at some of the things we’re most proud of from 2025:

In 2025, we’re really proud that René House became more visible across our local community, leading to increased donations, partnerships, and fundraising support.
We were grateful to see businesses, organisations, students, and individuals come together to support our work - whether that was through donating self-care items and Christmas hampers, fundraising, volunteering time, or helping raise awareness of homelessness and supported accommodation.
This growing community support plays a vital role in helping us deliver both housing and wrap-around support to the people who need it most, so thankyou to everyone who supported us in this way last year.

During 2025, we were invited to share our work and purpose beyond Nottingham, including contributing to conversations around social entrepreneurship at Cambridge Judge Business School.
These sessions focused on real-world experience rather than theory - sharing the realities, challenges, and responsibilities of running a social enterprise that supports people experiencing homelessness. Opportunities like this help amplify lived experience and encourage more informed approaches to social change.
We welcome more opportunities like this in 2026 to share our story and impact with others.

Housing remained at the heart of what we do in 2025. Over the year, we opened the doors to three new supported accommodation properties:
In total, 16 people were housed across these three properties in 2025, each receiving tailored support to help them move towards stability and independence.
2025 also marked the launch of the KYEM Initiative, our sister charity focused on delivering dedicated support work for people experiencing homelessness.
The KYEM Initiative strengthens our ability to provide structured, consistent support beyond housing alone - helping individuals navigate challenges, reduce isolation, build life skills, and work towards long-term outcomes.

We were super proud to see individuals and teams fundraising for René House throughout 2025. This included our own Jodie and Rhanajai, taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge to help fund resident support sessions.
Fundraising efforts like these - whether individual or collective - directly support the activities and one-to-one sessions that help residents build confidence, skills, and social connections.

Our work is only possible because of the people behind it. In 2025, we welcomed several new members of staff, strengthening our capacity across housing, support, and operations.
This included welcoming our new Fundraising Bid Writer, Shani, who will play a key role in securing sustainable funding and helping René House grow its impact in the years ahead.
Alongside opening new homes, our team continued delivering one-to-one and group support sessions throughout 2025 - from practical life skills and cooking, to social activities, wellbeing support, and tackling isolation.
We also supported some of our residents to successfully move on from supported accommodation into their own private rented homes, with follow-on support where needed to help sustain those tenancies - the very best part of our jobs!

In 2025, we launched our new website, marking an important evolution for René House and better reflecting who we are, what we do, and the impact we’re working towards as a charity.
We also began laying the foundations for an exciting project planned for 2026. While we’re not sharing full details just yet, it’s a development we’re incredibly excited about and one that will further strengthen how we support people experiencing homelessness.
