Do you have skills that could help someone build a more stable future? As we develop The Hub in Nottingham, we’re looking to partner with organisations and individuals who can deliver practical workshops – from life skills to employability training – to support our residents beyond supported accommodation.

As we continue to grow and prepare to open The Hub, one area we’re particularly keen to expand is the delivery of practical workshops for our residents.
While supported accommodation plays a vital role in providing stability, it’s what sits beyond that - the everyday skills, confidence, and knowledge – that truly determines whether someone can move forward and sustain a tenancy long-term.
For many of the individuals we support, these skills are the building blocks that have either been missed, disrupted, or never fully developed.
It’s easy to assume that things like managing money, understanding bills, cooking meals, or applying for jobs are straightforward. But in reality, these are learned behaviours that we can take for franted. They often come from growing up in stable environments, having consistent access to education, and being supported by people who can guide you through life’s practicalities. When those foundations aren’t in place, people can find themselves navigating into adulthood without the tools they need to manage it confidently.
That’s where practical, hands-on support becomes so important.
Through workshops and partnerships with other organisations, we want to create more opportunities for our residents to build these essential skills in a way that is accessible, supportive, and relevant to their day-to-day lives. This could include support with CV writing and interview preparation, pathways into employment, digital skills and confidence, budgeting and financial literacy, as well as cooking, nutrition, and managing a home. Alongside this, there is a growing need for support around confidence building, communication, and access to wellbeing or therapeutic services.
We believe that these are all fundamental to breaking the cycle of homelessness. Because long-term stability isn’t just about having somewhere to live, it’s about having the ability to maintain that space, navigate challenges, and build a future beyond it.
As we develop The Hub, our aim is to create a space where this kind of learning and support can happen more consistently, and in collaboration with others who bring valuable expertise. By doing so, we can better equip people not just to move on, but to move forward with confidence.
Ultimately, it’s these small, practical, often overlooked skills that can make the biggest difference over time.
If you’re an organisation that could support us in delivering these workshops – whether through funding, training, or sharing your expertise – we’d love to hear from you. We’re always open to new conversations and collaborations.
Together, we can create more opportunities for people to build stable, independent futures.

When we talk about homelessness, the focus is often on the point of crisis – when someone has physically lost their home. But the reality is, homelessness rarely happens overnight. Instead, it's usually the result of things slowly unravelling over time.
